Intro
Our users needed a way to access first aid on the go and to also feel prepared in case of emergencies. They were currently frustrated that the current platforms they used were not very simple to navigate.

I wanted to allow users to filter topics and access step-by-step videos to learn and carry out first aid.
I designed a mobile app to let users have on-the-go access and adapted this for a website across desktop and tablet size for a learning/training experience.
Pains
1: Most online first aid course websites make it hard to find the information users are looking for
2: Users want a way to save courses they are interested in and be tested on their knowledge
3: Users wanted a quick way to contact an emergency contact and be able to see aftercare at a glance

Gains
1: Access first-aid if needed in an emergency
2: Learn and train on first-aid topics of interest
3: Access emergency contacts when needed
Martha is a grandmother, piano teacher and avid hiker who needs to learn and have access to first aid on the go, through a mobile app, because she needs to be able to know what to do in case of an emergency.
Sam is an adventurous, single man living in London who needs to be able to learn and access first aid tutorials online, because he likes to be prepared at home and when he travels in case there is a medical emergency.
Ideation
Looking at best-in-class experiences, combined with competitor research, I ideated using rough hand-drawn mock-ups which I then took across to digital wireframes and lo-fi prototypes and tested these with users.
Design
I tested the low-fidelity prototypes with 6 users to refine the flows and to find any areas for improvement. I then iterated on the lo-fi prototypes and took the preferred flows across to high-fidelity prototypes.
"I'd like to be able to complete the registration process in one step to save time getting setup" Natalie Stephenson
"I'd like to see how many steps are in the learning section of the app" Jo Mitchel
Findings and next steps
"I like that I am able to filter first aid topics to find what I need quickly."

I really enjoyed how small iterations turned a simple prototype into a really well-thought out product. It was great getting feedback and seeing where processes could be improved.

This was a portfolio project.
